Scholarship Information

Tall Clubs International (TCI) is offering at least two $1,000.00 scholarships this year to those who meet the criteria discussed below. Winners will be announced at the TCI convention in July and winners will be individually notified. TCI is a social organization for men and women of tall stature and consists of more than sixty clubs across the United States and Canada. TCI members take pride in fostering tall awareness through their community involvement.

Each local Tall Club is eligible to nominate one scholarship candidate to the TCI Scholarship Committee. The Atlanta Tall Club will award at least one $500.00 scholarship to their nominee for the TCI award.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school senior, or those under the age of 21 (as of September 1st of the year of the award) who have obtained a high school diploma or GED
  • Attending their first year at a 2 or 4 year institution of higher learning in the fall

  • Include an official transcript from your school.
  • Write a short essay on "What Being Tall Means to Me." The essay should be typed in font style New Times Roman and no more than size 12. Essays will be judged on content, originality, writing style and presentation. Limit your essay to one side of a 8.5"X11" sheet of paper.
  • Submit the two Recommendation Forms to individuals of their choice.
    • The Recommendation Forms are included in the link for the Application.
    • One must be received from either a high school teacher, counselor or coach
    • One must be received from another adult, not a relative, in the community outside the school.
    • In addition to the form, recommenders must attach a letter of recommendation so the committee can learn more about the applicant and his/her achievements. Letter for college admission will be accepted.
    • The recommendations may be sent directly to the Scholarship Committee or included with the application. They must be postmarked by Friday, March 12, 2010
  • If desired, an applicant may include additional information about their accomplishments with the application.

Selection Process: The Atlanta Tall Club Scholarship Committee will select semi-finalists and conduct personal interviews to determine the finalist. Semi-finalists must be available for interviews between March 24-30, 2010. The applicant’s height will also be verified at this interview. The finalist’s application, with the committee’s recommendation, will then be forwarded to the TCI Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee will assess the applications based on several criteria, including:

  • Outstanding academic record and achievement
  • Involvement in clubs and activities in the school community
  • Involvement in clubs and activities outside the school community
  • Personal achievements
  • Insight and content of essay—”What being tall means to me”
  • Recommendation letters

The finalist’s application, with the committee’s recommendation, will then be forwarded to the TCI Scholarship Committee.
